Engrams. German biologist Richard Semon (1859-1918) thought he might be able to locate the place where memories are stored. He believed in, yet never found, a physical location in the brain where the traces of memory were corporately located. He used the word Engram to define the trace of a memory (or memories) in the brain that can be extracted when the memory is requested. “What is an Engram? – Definition & History.” Study.com, 12 January 2017
