If She Could Speak is a series of mixed media paintings inspired by collages I helped my mother create during her struggles with dementia. My mother always loved collage, carefully crafting cards to share her news with friends and family. Even as her illness began to limit her motor skills and speech, her vision and voice remained hers. I was simply there to help her paste and assemble the pieces she so thoughtfully arranged.

Each painting reflects on her during this time: though silent and fragmented, her creativity and deep desire to connect endured. Through this series, I honor her voice, her memories, and her quiet determination to communicate when words were no longer within reach.
