Memories are stories I want to tell visually. I like to recall their details—the spaces, surfaces, shapes and objects—and merge them with their less tangible parts. The details are familiar objects and materials that act as anchors from which to explore and interact with the abstract nature of memories. Embedded in this search is an awareness that remembering is part fact, part fiction. Stories are vivid, sometimes told, sometimes dream-like. Some objects are in sharper focus then others. It’s important to acknowledge that porounesses in my work, and to represent the changes that happen over time to one’s ability to recall.
